Best Self Challenge - Kila
I’d like to share my experience with you, as a student at Rasa Yoga & a devout student with Padma. I am sharing just to remind you that you are not alone, in the way you may inwardly feel, among many other students.
Many, many opportunities are presented to us in life & specifically, in our school, at Rasa Yoga, through our teacher, Padma Shakti.
Viktor Frankl’s book, “YES TO LIFE” reminds me that it’s not Life per se, but our opportunities in life. Through my 13 years at Rasa Yoga, I have listened through intrigue, need & devotion; and I have ignored and been resistant to many teachings. I certainly don’t know why I get resistant, but I have learned that if I’m open to knowing why, I can watch, listen and learn and I know that I can always ask. Much like when you ask a prayer to be answered, it may not become evident right away and certainly, it may become clear at an unexpected time and in an unexpected way.
I am wanting to share with you that I too am human, and I certainly am far, far from perfect. I succeed by a series of failing, usually. I succeed by persistence, usually. I succeed by having a teacher and to try not to let myself, get in the way. I learn by the Grace of my God.
I have been a part of the Best Self Challenge, a couple of times, so far.
Have I participated 80%? No!
Have I even participated 20% this last time? No!
Am I embarrassed? Yes!
Am I disappointed in myself? Yes!
Is doing better, an option? Yes!
Will I benefit? Absolutely!
I have learned, all too well, from Padma and reinforced by my actions and by my peers, that our decisions do not need to be All or Nothing! Life is so much more rewarding without that negative mindset. I also have a hard time forgiving myself for procrastination, lack of organization and not being the very best I could be, with all the precious gifts and opportunities that I have been blessed with.
My teacher, Padma, and yours, teaches us loud and clear: Mercy and Forgiveness. To Begin, again. I will do this. Won’t you?
I look forward to walking this path with you.
Warmly,
Santoshi Keva,
Kila Skellenger
